Today, in order to be able to stay at home, I do, sadly, provide child care services from my home, but we are small, and unlicensed (within state regulations).
Thank you for putting this information on the web.  I hope more people see it and realize that Daycare is no substitute for Mom, and as a society, we will reap what we have sown.

"...I want to commend you on your great website!  I have a 2-1/2 year-old son who has and will never see the inside of a daycare if it kills me.  I used to work in a daycare facility - it was a private Christian facility.  It is simply a child farm.  The children are depressed, sick, lonely, and mistreated.  I quit because I witnessed the director grab a 3-year-old by her arm and literally throw the child into the corner.
...Thanks for speaking out for the stay-at-home parents who do whatever they can to keep their kids safe.  I can't count the children who stood at the door and cried and screamed for their mommy to come and rescue them."

"...I'm a daycare asst. director...
...All centers go through changes from time to time.  Heck just last month we had to replace BOTH our toddler (12-24 months) teachers.  I couldn't get one of them to come to work (like everyday) and the other quit to take a higher paying job.  I was very upset about this since it meant our kids would have to get 2 new staff members.
...We do not believe it is good for children especially younger ones to have too many caregivers.  We employ our teachers full-time.  Some centers only employ "teachers" the ones with degrees part-time because you have to pay them more.
...I also know if numbers go down they will move kids from one room to another to save on staff.
...Most parents don't realize all the changes going on in a center...because they're simply not there."

A: Kelly, I think this is pretty normal for a daycare center.
Q: I recently moved to a new area and started working at a daycare where I can bring my youngest daughter with me. I thought it would be wonderful to work with the little kids, earn a little money, and still breastfeed my daughter. Well, it's not that great. The other employees are horrible. They are down right mean to the kids. They don't abuse them or hurt them but the kids spend most of the days crying and miserable. They let the little ones cry and cry and never just hold them for comfort...only for a bottle.
So I guess my question to you is, is this routine daycare?

"...for-profit, institutional daycares can be very cold and impersonal.  Profits often come before the well-being of the providers and children.  Rote learning is pushed way too early in order to impress investors and parents."
